Summary: The place is in a mess and Ianto isn't sure cleaning will fix it. A double drabble.
The broom moved slowly across the floor, or perhaps it was Ianto that was moving slowly; he couldn't be sure. He was nothing if not efficient at cleaning yet today he just couldn’t manage it. The broom felt like it weighed twenty pounds as he tried to drag it around, sweeping up the shattered glass and shredded wood that littered the boardroom. It should have exploded outwards, except it was the rift machine that had caused everything to explode inwards. The entire hub was a disaster zone, and at the rate he was moving, it was going to take years to put it right.
He must have been moving even slower than he thought because suddenly there was a hand on his shoulder, and Tosh standing there at his side. You don't have to do this, you know, she said, although he wasn’t sure who else was going to.
‘It’s all our fault,’ he said, referring not to the state of the hub, but to the fact that Jack was dead. They’d been the ones who’d opened up the rift and let that monster through. If they hadn’t…
‘It’ll be okay,’ she promised. ‘No one could’ve known. Not even Jack.’
