Summary: Ianto isn't sure Jack has made the right call. A double drabble.
‘Well, that wasn’t awkward at all,’ Ianto said, watching as Owen stormed out of Jack’s office, defrocked of his Torchwood credentials and his gun.
‘It had to be done,’ Jack replied, reaching out a hand.
Ianto reluctantly tugged the snaplock bag from his breast pocket and handed over Owen’s security pass. ‘Did it, though?’
Jack tried not to look impatient. ‘We both know he’s not up to it.’
‘He was shot and brought back from death, but still technically dead. I think any of us would feel the same.’
‘Yeah, but it’s Owen. Can you picture any scenario where he just accepts that and carries on?’
Ianto frowned, seemingly disappointed in Jack’s executive decision. ‘You haven’t exactly given him an alternative.’
‘We don’t know what he is and isn’t capable of. Believe me, no one wants him back to normal as much as I do. I didn’t do all this just to throw him out on the street. He needs time to process this.’ Jack broke eye contact for a moment. ‘We all do.’
Ianto heaved a sigh. ‘Well, it seems I’ve got to teach him how to use the coffee machine now. Can’t see that lifting his mood, either.’
