Summary: Some things are just better locked away. A double drabble.

Ianto caught sight of Jack just as he was sliding the metal box back into the secure archives, pressing the button that would seal it safely away.

'I wasn't sure you were going to bother with that,' he remarked, watching Jack haul the ancient eighteenth-century safe door back into place, spinning the combination lock for good measure. Tosh had destroyed the resurrection glove and the pieces had been incinerated as a precaution.

Jack's look was one of indecision, as if Ianto had pointed out his overreaction. 'I know,' he said, referring to the knife that now occupied the box without its companion. 'It just didn't feel right storing it in the archives, knowing what it was capable of.'

'I wish I hadn't said they come in pairs,' Ianto confessed, knowing it weighed heavily on Jack's mind that they may not have seen the last of the glove. Maybe locking it away was the only safe thing to do. On the whole, he knew he'd feel safer for knowing it wasn't lurking down in the archives.

'We can always hope you're wrong,' Jack replied. 'Unlikely, but it does occasionally happen,' he said, trying to be more upbeat.

'I hope you're right.'

Sadly, Jack ended up being responsible for retrieving the other glove. Makes me wonder what they could have done if used together. Would they have been safer that way? Would they have done something good?
