Disclaimer Torchwood sadly doesn’t belong to me, but I treat it better.

Jack leaned back against the kitchen counter as he waited for his tea to brew, admiring the hub in all its glory. He’d outdone himself this year, even if he did say so himself, bedecking the place in every kind of shimmering tinsel and twinkling light he could get his hands on.

Of course he’d gone through the usual gamut of arguments with the team about it – why he could find all this time to decorate the hub for the silly season yet he still couldn’t find time to return calls to the Home Office, sign off on requisitions for a new mass spectrometer, or even put all his dirty laundry in the hamper rather than all over the place in his underground bunker just to make laundry day that much easier. He shrugged them all off. He was the captain and in charge. He decided what took priority on any given day and if that happened to be baubles and lights, then so be it.

He may have technically had more Christmases than all of them put together but it never hurt to make the most of it. And make the most he had, ensuring he used every opportunity under the mistletoe to lay one on his lover – at least until Ianto had come down with something that was putting a dampener on Jack's Christmas spirits.

Still, he’d made it through most of December and now it was Christmas eve there was only one more sleep until he could think about tearing the paper and ribbon off all of Ianto’s ridiculously neatly wrapped presents. He really did appreciate the effort that went into them, even if it didn’t seem like that when it was shredded all over the floor. And after tomorrow he’d have to go back to stealing his kisses the old fashioned way, not that it was terribly different to the tactics he was using right now. The element of surprise always worked well, and the fact that Jack was endlessly charming, with pheromones that made even the most rational mind turn to mush worked to his advantage.

He reached over and grabbed the spoon, scooping the teabag out of the bottom of the cup and squeezing it out before dropping it in the bin. It was no eggnog, and it definitely wasn’t one of Ianto’s finest brews – perhaps with a little something naughty and alcoholic added to it for the festive season – but it would do for now. There wasn’t much that could bring Jack down on this particular night of the year.
