torchwood100Summary: Ianto is beginning to see the gravity of the situation. A double drabble.
As the Vam rose and slithered forward, engulfing the fire engine and its entire crew, Ianto knew they were in big trouble. He didn’t know why he was only realising it now, but innocent people were now starting to die in their dozens and the Vam wasn’t looking like stopping.
Perhaps it was because he’d thought of Ange Havisham as a bit of a joke and that this whole assessment process was just a game to be played, even if Jack seemed worried. He’d found her anachronistic, even more so than Jack, but now she was just standing there, watching the horror unfold without issuing any directions whatsoever.
Jack had disappeared hours ago, unhappy that Agnes had taken over leadership, but now they needed him more than ever. This wasn't just a box ticking assessment anymore. Gwen didn’t know what to do and neither did he. If they were waiting for Agnes to tell them that this had all been staged and could be fixed with a snap of the fingers, he suspected that the joke would be on him.
Torchwood was a dangerous game to play and when people started dying, it was time to stand as a team.
