Summary: Ianto's archives are beginning to fill with junk. A double drabble.
‘Here you go,’ Jack said, handing Ianto the familiar object that he’d retrieved from a rift alert earlier that morning. Another addition for the master of the archives. He’d only seen them about fifty times before. The whole universe appeared to be littered with bits of space junk that came loose from passing vessels and ended up getting sucked into the rift.
Ianto sighed. ‘Sometimes I think I'm less master of the archives than I am master of the planet’s biggest garage of spare parts. What we’re ever going to do with seventy eight used crystal energy exchange units I have no idea.’
‘Hey, you never know when a passing ship might be in distress and need one,’ Jack replied.
‘And we’ll still have seventy seven left. Or more by the time that ship arrives. Feels like we get one of these turning up every other week.’
Jack shrugged. ‘Well, at least by the time Torchwood reaches the thirty-second century we won’t have to worry about running out. We’ll be able to recondition them and sell them as new tech, which is what they will be.’
‘We should live so long.’
‘Immortal, Ianto. Don’t forget.’
Ianto sighed again. ‘Can’t wait.’
