‘Ouch,’ Ianto winced as Owen did his best to treat the wound on the back of his hand. It stung from the antiseptic ointment Owen dabbed on it, which given their line of work, was far stronger than most, and had a distinctive odour to it, coupled with the distinctive brown stain it left. So long as it worked, he supposed, resigning himself to it.
‘Sorry,’ Owen said, uncharacteristically apologising for the additional pain being inflicted. He must have accepted that Ianto was already in enough pain, and that on this occasion, the injury wasn’t self-inflicted. If anything, he was probably grateful Ianto had offered to fetch the thing from the archives rather than letting Owen go down there and get it himself.
‘We should start putting warning labels on things,’ Ianto said, hissing as Owen’s ointment seeped deeper into the cut, stinging like crazy. If he’d known it was that sharp, he’d have had it boxed up, not just lying in a crate with everything else.
Owen snorted. ‘How about just one big label at the front door to the hub which says “warning, pretty much everything in here is out to kill you.”
Ianto hummed. ‘That’d probably work.’
