torchwood100Summary: Tosh crosses the line between right and wrong. A double drabble.
Tosh knew it was wrong, but no one was looking and no one had to know. Yes, Jack had strict rules about alien technology leaving the hub, but Tosh had been working on this one particular piece of alien tech at his instruction, and she was dying to test it out.
Not that she couldn't have tested it out at the hub, They had any number of books clustered down in the archives, but she wanted this moment for herself, just to see what it was truly capable of. If she was right, it wouldn't just absorb the entire contents of a book merely by touching it, but it could decode or translate just about anything.
Books were just the beginning. If she was right, it was capable of decrypting even the most powerful encryption key. She could take it to a cash point and literally drain the bank dry – not that she would, but just proving it was possible. At that point Jack would probably decide it was too dangerous and have it locked away. Perhaps she shouldn’t mention that part.
When Owen’s head was turned she dropped the device into her handbag. It was just research, after all.
