'It must be your turn,' Jack told Ianto in no uncertain terms, thrusting the tiny crying baby at his husband.
'Oh, no. I did it last time, I'm sure of it,' he replied, though at least not petulant enough to try and palm his daughter back to Jack like she was Sunday night's rubbish bag. Instead he cuddled her close and bounced around, trying to ease her anguish before she upset the other two.
' Well, your car is at the bottom of the driveway,' Jack argued.
'Like you've never driven it before! Please just take her,' Ianto begged. 'You started this thing anyway.' They'd never needed to do this before but since Jack had started putting them in the car and driving them around the block for half an hour, they'd not only stop crying, but also drop off to sleep. Now it was like a rite of passage before going back to sleep.
Jack huffed. 'Fine, but if I drive, you're coming too. You get to hold her. Save me setting up the car seat.'
'Fine,' came the retort. 'Feel free to drive around Cardiff for four hours. At least then Sian and I can both get some sleep.'
