Summary: Jack got them into this mess, and now he's determined to get them out. A double drabble.
‘Come on, baby,’ Jack pleaded, pressing his foot down on the accelerator, hearing the SUV growl as it tried to grip the ground underneath its wheels. It lurched forward a few feet but then it rolled back again and stalled, making Jack swear.
‘I did warn you not to drive through this,’ Ianto replied, having given up watching Jack's attempts to drive out of the ravine, instead entertaining himself with a paperback Gwen had left in the glove compartment. ‘We could have parked and gone on foot the rest of the way, but no…’
‘I can get us out,’ Jack insisted. ‘The first couple of yards are always the toughest. Once we get going, we’ll be flying up that cliff.’ Jack floored it again and this time the SUV flung forward a full fifty yards before it surrendered to gravity and Jack was forced to hit the brakes as it skidded and fishtailed backwards.
Ianto’s paperback fell into the footwell and he grabbed frantically for anything to hold onto until the car finally came to a halt once more, back where it had begun. ‘Seriously, if you don't roll the car and kill us, I think I may kill you.’
