Character: Owen, Ianto
Author: m_findlow
Author: m_findlow
Rating: PG
Length: 300 words
Summary: Owen is smarter than Ianto gives him credit. A triple drabble.
‘Oh, stop your bloody sulking,’ Owen said, finally fed up with having Ianto sitting in the car with him curled up and sullen.
‘I’m not sulking.’
‘Yeah, you bloody are. Have been ever since we started nagging you for the dirt on Jack.’ Owen didn’t deny it. If Jack had buggered off without a word, then the only person who might have an inkling why was going to be the one person who had been shagging him after hours. It was simply that Owen was less subtle about it than his teammates, who were more interested in how long that had been going on under their noses.
‘I told you, I don't know any more than you do.’ He folded his arms defensively and Owen knew he wouldn't get any more joy from the young man.
‘You do realise I knew you and Jack were a thing before he left, don't you?’
‘You did?’ Ianto sounded remarkably surprised, which was saying something for the man who claimed to know everything.
‘Didn't take a genius, Ianto. Always saved him the best cream cake, served him his coffee first, made sure he didn’t get nagged about overdue paperwork like the rest of us…’
‘He’s the boss,’ Ianto emphasised.
Owen snorted. ‘Yeah, and more besides.’ He waited until they came to the next red light to spare a glance sideways at the pathetic, forlorn expression on Ianto's face that implied he didn’t think Jack was coming back and that he wasn’t entirely sure what to do with that information. ‘I’m sure he had his reasons for leaving,’ Owen said, trying to sound more reassuring even if he didn’t necessarily believe it himself either.
Ianto sulked again. ‘Well, if you know what those are, you really are a genius.’
Too bloody right, Owen thought.
