Author: m_findlow
Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Ianto doesn't get the same buzz out of the situation as the rest of them. A double drabble.
Ianto had watched the team in action a hundred times. There was something about them that separated him from them. They relished the thrill of the chase and the life threatening danger. Ianto had his share of scary moments from his days at Torchwood One, but things had still been safe for the most part, and he didn't go to work each day thinking it might be his last.
He hadn't thought that about coming to work at Torchwood Three either, but now he was reconsidering. He knew Jack meant well by trying to take him out on assignment with the rest of them, partly to get him out of the dreary hub, and partly because he wasn't sure Jack felt comfortable leaving him in the hub on his own.
Now he was paying the price for Jack's generosity of spirit. Trapped in a cellar with gun wielding captors and a fridge full of dismembered body parts had his heart racing a million miles an hour. It wasn’t even aliens he could blame. They were just ordinary murderous humans.
There was no adrenaline rush to make him enjoy the imminent danger, only crippling fear that they were about to die.
