Summary: Sometimes you have to put up with people's quirks. A double drabble.
‘What’s that face for?’ Gwen asked, looking at Jack across the boardroom table as their meeting came to an end.
Jack looked over his shoulder, making sure Ianto was out of earshot before he spoke, already carrying a tray of used mugs and plates down to the kitchen for washing. ‘He bought us tickets for the Welsh Amateur Operatic Contest.’
‘Oh, is that the one from that case we had last year?’
Jack frowned, looking unhappy. ‘The same.’
‘Well, that was nice of him. I’m sure you’ll both have a lovely time, especially as he won't have the pressure of having to get up there and perform this time.’ She paused and gave Jack a chance to offer up a reason why he didn't look happy about it. ‘Of course, if you’d like to share your feelings on the matter?’
‘It’s opera, Gwen. It's not even music. Not really.’
‘Is opera going to ruin Captain Jack Harkness’ street cred?’
‘Absolutely.’
Gwen rolled her eyes, doing a fine imitation of the man who wasn’t in the room. ‘Get over it, Jack. He wants to go and enjoy it with you. With you,’ she reiterated. ‘Whether you like the music is irrelevant.’
