Rating: PG
Length: 200 words
Summary: Jack will do anything to save his teammates. A double drabble.
Jack paced up and down the emergency room hallway waiting for news and wishing he hadn’t been so reckless. If he’d only been watching what was going on more carefully, Tosh wouldn’t have gotten crushed under the collapsed roof. He’d have pulled her away in time.
As soon as he saw Owen he rushed forward. ‘What’s happening? Is she okay?’
Owen rubbed a hand over his face. ‘She’ll be okay, but there’s a lot of crush injuries and they’re going to have to remove her spleen.’
The words were like a vice around his heart. ‘Take mine and give it to Tosh,’ he said without giving it a second thought.
‘Jack, that’s ridiculous,’ Owen told him.
‘Desperate times call for desperate measures. Besides, I’m a universal blood donor.’
‘That’s not the same thing. There’s tissue mismatches and rejection issues even with a perfectly matched donor organ. Besides, a person can live without their spleen.’
‘Not as well as they can with one,’ Jack replied, amazed that Owen could be so clinical at a time like this. ‘Please, Owen.’
He sighed. ‘Fine, but we’re going to need a whole lot of retcon to deal with the two surgical teams we’ll need.’
