Summary: Jack is thrilled to have the SUV back, ready for some action. A triple drabble.
Jack was waiting in the underground car park as he heard the familiar growl of the SUV pull in expertly into its designated spot. Ianto alighted from the driver’s side and Jack walked across to meet him.
‘I can’t tell you how glad I am to have our ride back, he said. The place just hasn’t been the same without the old girl.’
Perhaps think on that the next time you think about wrapping it around a dump truck, Ianto replied.
Jack leaned forward over Ianto’s shoulder and took a deep breath. ‘Ah, has that nice new car smell and everything.’
‘It’s scented oils,’ Ianto replied, ‘and for what we pay them, I fully expect it to leave the shop smelling like a five star hotel. They should have dropped it off as well for the price tag.’
Jack gave the car an affectionate pat on the hood, like a long lost lover. ‘The important thing is that we’ve got it back. It’s just not Torchwood without the Torchwood SUV.’
Ianto rolled his eyes. ‘Yes, because I'm sure that you having to get around town in that dark blue sports car of yours has been a real wrench.’
‘It is,’ Jack insisted. ‘For starters, it only seats two, and it has absolutely no room in the boot. And the soft top just doesn’t cope well in a Cardiff downpour. Plus, that buttercream leather upholstery? Do you know how hard it is to get bloodstains out of that?’
‘Intimately,’ Ianto replied.
‘It’s just not built for what we do on a daily basis,’ Jack said.
‘It has made post-weevil sex challenging,’ Ianto nodded in agreement.
Jack grinned. ‘So, wanna take her for a ride now? Granted we don’t have a weevil…’
‘It won’t smell like “new car” afterwards.’
‘There’s worse things.’
