Title: Trick of the eye
'They're just a cheap trick,' Jack said, handing over the pair of ordinary looking plastic glasses. 'Stick them in a show bag at the local fair for the kids,' he added. 'Tons of these things floating around in the thirty-fourth century.'
'Like VR goggles?' Ianto asked, wondering how you could fit that kind of tech into something so small and ordinary.
'More or less. Except they're still using what's in front of you, just ratcheting it up to a fantasy level view. Try them if you like.'
Ianto slid them on, certain he must look stupid, but the feeling dissipated quickly. 'Wow,' he murmured.
'What do you see?'
He looked out across the city. Everything was gleaming, even the concrete buildings, like they were made of crystal. Overhead the twilight sky was a deep shade of purple and the stars glittered brightly in their thousands in twinkling golds and greens and candy floss pink. 'Cool.'
'Anything else you see in your fantasy version or the world?'
He turned to Jack and grinned as he looked him up and down, letting the alien glasses do what his mind usually did, but going way further than his mind ever had. 'Nothing G-rated.'

Summary: Even a cheap parlour trick can have its advantages. A double drabble.
