Summary: Gwen knows that one day Torchwood is going to kill her. A double drabble.
Gwen had always known that Torchwood would come for her one day. One day, one week, one year… it was impossible to know when, but it would come for her eventually and ruin her utterly. She wasn’t immortal so the risk was even higher. There was no mucking up and having a second chance at things. The end would simply be the end.
Even for an immortal like Jack, there came a point at which even his immortality couldn’t save him. He’d finally reached a point where the losses had become too much, and the pain ran too deep for him to carry on. It didn’t matter that there was still a rift floating over the city, intent on spitting out every kind of alien phenomena amongst the innocent people that lived there. Enough was enough. Death was the reprieve for everyone who worked for Torchwood except for Jack. The only reprieve for him was to leave forever and not come back; just to walk away and try to erase all the memories of the place as if it had never existed.
But Gwen was still here, and there was still a danger that needed eliminating. Her life didn’t matter.
