Summary: Rhys knows the city is safe in his wife's hands, but who keeps his wife safe? . A double drabble.
Rhys barely looked up from his spot on the sofa as Gwen came tumbling through the door just before midnight. All he heard was the clunk of her boots down the hall, heading for the shower. He couldn't blame her, he could smell the stink of burning from here.
He sighed as he heard the water beginning to run, picturing her dumping some of her clothes in the laundry hamper, the rest destined for the rubbish. Another tough day at Torchwood. That was pretty much becoming the norm.
It wasn't that Rhys worried per se. Gwen was bloody brilliant at her job. They all were. Not like Rhys. Sure, he could bring them a lorry if they needed one, or make a round of tea and biscuits, but he wasn't one of them. Didn't want to be, either. Torchwood wasn't for him.
His wife protected the city from loads of bad stuff. Most people didn't even have a clue about most of it. Still, Rhys was proud of her, regardless. She had no problems with the dangers; just took it all in her stride. The only trouble that kept him awake at night was how to protect Gwen from herself.
