Summary: Jack knows there's a place on board the TARDIS that Ianto is going to love. A triple drabble.
'Would you look at that, Ianto,' Jack said, beaming as he thrust open the doors of the TARDIS library, expecting his lover to be utterly bowled over.
Ianto was a lover of books and there were few libraries this side of the Octavia Six Quadrant that could compare. It would take a few hundred lifetimes to read everything in here, and that was on the assumption that the library didn't grow – which it did every time they visited somewhere new.
Jack could never fully comprehend how a TARDIS went about acquiring books when it couldn't physically wander the markets or peruse the book stores, but it felt bigger every time he stepped inside, often with a choice selection left waiting for him beside his favourite chair. The TARDIS knew what he liked better than he himself.
'Cool,' Ianto said, playing down his awe.
'All Dewey decimalised for even the fussiest archivist,' Jack said, as if he could take credit for it. 'A real feast for the eyes wouldn't you say?'
'I certainly would,' Ianto agreed. 'I expect there's an equivalent video arcade for guests like you that prefer something more stimulating?'
'Hey, I like a good book as much as the next person.' Jack then cleared his throat. 'But yes, if racing simulators and pinball are more your thing, the TARDIS has those too.'
Ianto glided towards a large reading chair and sat down in it, feeling the ageing yet supple leather under his hands. He picked up the book resting on its arm in the glow of a side table lamp and studied the cover. 'How green was my valley. Nice. Always good to see the Welsh classics represented.'
'So, should I leave you two alone to bond for a while?'
Ianto nodded. 'Come back in say four years.'
