Summary: Everything is down in the archives, somewhere. A double drabble.
‘They’re not here,’ Owen said, pawing through the yellowing folders once more, finding nothing but a whole lot of dust that was probably older than him and Suzie put together. No one had touched any of these files since the dark ages, or possible since the day they’d been filed down here. God the archives were such a shambles. Torchwood’s motto should have been “we never chuck out anything”.
‘Jack said this is the drawer where the files would be,’ she replied.
‘Well, they’re not,’ he huffed. ‘And I hardly think Jack is the authority on everything down here,’ he added, taking two steps back down the stepladder and dusting his hands on his jeans.
Suzie hit her comms. ‘Jack, it’s not there.’ There was a moment's pause as she listened to his reply. Her face hardened and then she cast a gaze at the long bank of green metal filing cabinets and sighed. ‘Okay.’
‘What’d he say?’
‘He says we have to check every drawer. It’s in there somewhere, he’s sure of it.’
‘Like he was sure it’s in this one?’ Owen snarked.
‘Just shut up and start at the other end or we’ll never get out of here.’
