Summary: Gwen and Ianto arrive to find a troubling scene. A triple drabble.
Gwen was still laughing at Ianto’s joke as they re-entered the hub, arms laden with coffees and bags full of pastries. All of that joy quickly dissipated thought as they both caught sight of Jack lying face down on the floor of his office. Worse, there was the alien they’d captured in the early hours of this morning, using all of its six legs to pin jack down, standing over him with its jaw dangerously close to Jack’s head. So much for it being friendly as Jack had promised them, leaving it to wander loose around the hub.
‘Get off him! Now!’ Gwen waved her arms at it and it took the threatening gesture as it was intended, scurrying away and scampering under the sofa where it stayed, its glowing green eyes all that could be seen as it stared back at them with wide eyed confusion. It didn’t know what to make of the sudden turn of behaviour. They’d been nothing but kind to it so far, but seeing it poised over Jack like that just provided you couldn’t trust anything as safe.
Jack rolled over and frowned at them. ‘What did you do that for?’
‘Um, because it was attacking you?’ Ianto replied, incredulous that Jack could be so blasé about the whole thing. If they hadn't come back when they had, he'd probably be nothing more than a pile of bloody chewed up bits. And that would take ages to recover from, not to mention how painful it would be.
‘Attacking? Don't be ridiculous! It was giving me a massage. And it was good, too. You wouldn't believe how tight everything was locked up. Must be the stress from having you two always panicking every time you see an alien giving shiatsu. No wonder I'm so tense!’
