Summary: Owen only turned his back for a second. A double drabble.
‘I can't believe you lost it!’ Jack complained, kneeling down on the medical bay floor with torch in hand, checking underneath the gap between the morgue drawers.
‘I didn't lose it! It got away,’ Owen replied, throwing open cupboards and checking inside them. ‘The thing shouldn't have been able to go anywhere. I did a full body scan on it and it didn't have so much as a bone in its body.’
Jack poked his torch deeper into the dark cavity. ‘It's an invertebrate, Owen. It. doesn't need bones.’
Owen rolled his eyes, looking around uselessly. ‘I went to medical school. Invertebrates have a tough exoskeleton to compensate. This thing has neither. Figured it couldn't go anywhere while I had my back turned.’
‘Oh, and you've never seen anything boneless move on its own?’
‘Let's leave the innuendo for after hours,’ Ianto said, standing at the ready with a butterfly net in hand.
‘It's all muscle,’ Jack said, turning his attention back to Owen. ‘Probably more dexterous than you even with all your bones intact.’
‘Well, so long as it isn't planning on jumping me from behind for a little bit of “How's your father” I won't be losing sleep.’
