Summary: Ianto has left this teammates for dead. A double drabble.
‘I need to stop!’ Jack panted, slowing up until he was in one spot, leaning over and putting his hands on his knees for support as he tried to catch his breath which was coming in short, shallow gulps whilst his head pounded in time with the beating of his straining heart.
More footfalls came up from behind him and Gwen stopped to check that he was okay.
‘Can’t go any further,’ he said between desperate lungfuls of air.
‘It’s only another mile,’ Gwen said, getting her own breath back. ‘I didn’t think I was ever going to catch up to you.’
Jack looked up but there was no point. Ianto was well out of sight, probably all the way back at the hub by now. ‘I don’t know how he makes it look so easy,’ Jack complained. ‘He’s the one supposed to be recovering from a serious leg injury.’ He was light on his feet and barely puffing compared to Jack, leaving him trailing far behind.
‘I think we’re well past the occupational therapy stage,’ Gwen replied.
Jack groaned. ‘Why did he have to take up running as a hobby?’ he complained. ‘Why not painting watercolours or collecting stamps?’
