Summary: Jack is having a hard time getting used to someone else being in charge. A triple drabble.
‘I'd like these reports finished before you go home tonight,’ Ianto said, dropping the stack on Jack's desk, without further instructions before moving towards the door and into his own office to carry on working.
Jack frowned at the stack then looked up at his teammate Adelaide. ‘Is it just me or has Ianto gotten bossy now that he's officially used to being in charge?’
She shrugged at him. ‘Doesn't he always chase your reports? No offence, but you are pretty bad at getting them in on time.’
‘I know but…’ Usually Ianto used different words, such as “it'd be nice if you might spend some time catching up,” or “perhaps before the Home Office sends someone down here in person to collect them?” There was always a cheeky facetiousness that went with the request. He gathered them up in his arm and wandered towards the doorway, peering in where Ianto was already tapping at his computer. ‘You really want these done tonight?’
He waited for the tiny little curl at the edge of Ianto's mouth, followed by the dry-witted suggestion that Jack might surprise him for once, or that they weren’t actually due for another week but that he thought he’d give Jack the courtesy of a week’s head start on them.
‘Yes, Jack. Before you leave, and before I leave, which should be earlier still.’
Jack frowned and slouched back to his office, dropping them on the desk. ‘Yup, definitely didn't just imagine it.’
‘Well,’ Adelaide said, grabbing her own files, ‘if he's giving you the hard line then I’d better get cracking on these too. If you’re not getting any leniency and you’re married to him…’
Jack sighed, casting a baleful glare at the office doorway. ‘I think being married gets me even less leniency than you.’
