Summary: The team stand idle to prove a point. A double drabble.
Gwen frowned as she stared out of the SUV passenger window. ‘We should really go and help,’ she said, trying to rally the rest of the team to have a change of heart. After all, if it had been one of them, they’d have hoped that the rest of the team would come and back them up.
‘Nope,’ Owen said, cutting off any further debate on the matter, keeping his hands firmly on the wheel and close to the button that kept all the other doors on the car locked from the inside. ‘Jack said he could handle it on his own.’
They continued to watch Jack struggle with the large object, first pulling it from in front, and then resorting to shoving it from behind, throwing his whole weight into the task with little reward for his efforts. It had only budged about five yards and was still a good thirty from the SUV.
‘It’s not really fair though, is it?’ Tosh said. ‘We didn’t mention that the anti-gravity unit inside it was broken. Without it, that thing must weigh as much as a small sedan.’
‘Jack didn’t want our help,’ Owen reminded her. ‘He reaps what he sows.’
