‘You're not still trying to get that thing to work, are you?’ Gwen asked, frowned as she watched Jack twiddle with dials. She wasn't sure how it was supposed to work when he had the back of it hanging open and more bits of it scattered amongst screwdrivers on his desk. Things tended not to work when you hadn't put all the bits back together.
‘Some things are worth persisting with,’ Jack said in a lecturing tone. ‘Besides, it's not that complicated. There's only so many parts that could be faulty,’ working a screwdriver deep inside.
‘If you say so,’ Gwen replied, watching on. ‘I'll be honest, is there really anything on alien television that's worth watching? God knows most nights I wish Rhys would just turn ours off.’
‘When I get this baby working we'll be able to tune in to over seven thousand channels of intergalactic content.’
Ianto entered, bringing coffee. ‘Seven thousand channels and I'll bet we still can't agree on anything worth watching, never mind the fact that I doubt it'll have English subtitles.’
‘All the more reason to start working on your Galactic Standard.’
Ianto rolled his eyes. ‘I struggle enough with Nordic crime series.’
