Summary: Jack is going to have to work his way back into the good graces of the team. A double drabble.
When Jack disappeared on the team the second time around, he expected that they’d be more understanding. After all, The Committee were dangerous and Jack had no idea just how far their reach had penetrated global governments. It wasn’t the kind of thing you could just fit in around chasing down weevils and preventing alien objects from coming through the rift and blowing up.
Instead, he was met with a cool indifference, as if the team felt that he hadn’t entirely trusted them to help him. That in itself was ironic, since they’d all ignored his instructions and done their own investigating anyway, making connections that even he hadn’t been able to.
‘Am I off the decaf yet?’ Jack asked as Ianto came in with his morning coffee and a stack of newspapers.
‘You were never on decaf for more than the first day,’ Ianto replied. ‘I just didn’t bother to mention it. You’ve been drinking real coffee for two weeks.’
‘Oh.’ Jack felt sheepish. ‘Guess I just didn’t expect to have to be rebuilding bridges with everyone when I got back. I did it to keep you all safe, you know.’
Ianto shrugged. ‘We knew. We just didn’t agree.’
