Summary: Ianto is fighting the influence of an alien object determined to make him number one. A double drabble.
Let go of the alien device, Ianto’s brain screamed at him. He wanted to, truly he did, but there was another part of his brain that was stopping the first part from sending the message to his hand to just let it go.
“You don’t want to let go of me,” the other voice inside his head told him – the one coming from inside the metal orb talking to him. “You know I only want what’s best for you.” Ianto somehow doubted that. Alien objects almost always had their own agenda.
“Why do you always play second fiddle to Jack and Gwen?” it asked him in a soothing, almost sympathetic tone. “Why should they always get all the glory and the accolades? You work just as hard as they do. Probably more.” That was true, but Ianto wasn’t a fan of the limelight.
“Come on,” the device pleaded. “You should be running Torchwood. No, not just Torchwood, the world. You’re so much better than them, don’t you see? We could make everyone else see it, too. There’s nothing we couldn’t do together. Jack would be making coffee for you, instead.”
Ianto dropped the orb. Nobody fiddled with his coffee machine!
