Summary: Not all instruments are music to an earthling's ears. A double drabble.
‘Could someone please shut that thing up?’ Gwen complained, massaging her temples and letting her head slump onto the desk in front of her. ‘I don’t think I can take much more of it.’
She looked across at her two teammates and wondered how it was that they were completely immune to the wailing sound of the alien fiddle that had arrived through the rift and hadn’t stopped playing itself since. She didn’t recognise the tune, if it could be called that. Clearly alien music was heard in an acoustically different way, she decided. Probably something to do with the way their ears were shaped. In any case, to human ears it was bloody awful and her head was close to exploding.
‘Anyone?’ she asked a bit louder. Surely someone could find a way to silence it. Presumably that was what Ianto was currently researching on his computer, lost in the task with absolute dedication to it.
Ianto looked her way, frowned at her expression and then reached up, plucking something nearly invisible from his ears. ‘Did you say something?’ He winced. ‘God that fiddle music is bloody awful,’ he remarked. ‘Lucky we’ve got these noise cancelling earbuds, isn’t it?’
