Summary: There are some places you should never take Jack. A double drabble.
Ianto’s phone rang as he was running groceries through the self service checkout. He paused scanning a packet of Scottish shortbreads long enough to pull the phone from his pocket. ‘Hey, Gwen,’ he said, checking the caller ID before answering.
‘I’m done at the police station,’ she reported. ‘Where should I meet you?’
‘We’re just finishing picking up a few things at Tesco.’
There was a pregnant pause on the other end of the line. ‘We?’ He could hear her pinching the bridge of her nose. ‘God, tell me you didn’t let Jack loose in the supermarket. You know what he’s like!’
Ianto didn’t let Gwen’s chastising slide, even though they both knew exactly what Jack was like. ‘Sorry, but have you met Jack Harkness? He was out of the car before I even had a chance to disable the locks from the outside.’
‘Is he with you?’
‘Um… Well, I mean technically he and I are both inside the supermarket.’
Gwen groaned. ‘Okay, I’ll be there in three minutes. I assume it’ll take both of us to extract him from the lolly aisle.’
‘Probably depends whether the entire sale display of fruit pastilles has him in a hypnotic state.’
