Summary: Jack is having a rough day where the rift doesn't want to play nice. A double drabble.
Jack gingerly held the tea towel covered bag of ice to his head, wincing at how much it hurt.
Ianto came into his office, carrying coffee and a very large plate of chocolate biscuits. ‘I take it Owen gave you his excellent bedside manner, again?’
‘If you mean did he read me the riot act, then you got it in one.’ Jack winced again as he pulled the ice away, unsure which hurt more, having it there or not.
Ianto set down the tray. ‘Let me look?’ he said, leaning over to gently part Jack’s hair and inspect the damage for himself. ‘Small wonder you were out cold for a good ten minutes,’ he said, avoiding touching the egg sized lump on Jack's skull which was shiny and red and hurt like hell. ‘That’s just about the biggest I've ever seen. Amazing it didn’t crack your skull and kill you.’
Jack groaned despite Ianto’s gentle touches. ‘Kinda wish I had,’ he replied around a mouthful of biscuit, wondering when the skin on his head had started being stretched painfully by the mere act of chewing. ‘It’s gonna take days to heal.’
‘Can’t do much about rogue rift-travelling baseballs, I’m afraid.’
