Summary: Torchwood's latest guest has made a bit of a faux pas. A double drabble.
Ianto began handing out the gas masks and it wasn’t a moment too soon as far as Jack was concerned, taking in the first deep breath of filtered air and literally breathing a sigh of relief.
‘I’m so very sorry,’ the alien named Burke apologised, immune to the gaseous stench that was now filling every nook and cranny of the hub. ‘I feel deeply embarrassed to have offended you.’
Jack waved away the apology. ‘No offence was taken, Burke. You just caught us a little off guard.’ Jack avoided looking in Owen’s direction where their medic was rolling his eyes and making gagging gestures from behind his mask. The grand flatulent gesture offered by Burke as part of his diplomatic treaty hadn’t gone down well with the team.
‘I would happily accept your flatulence in return,’ Burke insisted. ‘In fact, it would be a great honour for my people to have received such a thing from your planet’s emissaries. I should be mortified to return knowing I’d failed to win your friendship.’
Jack shrugged off his concerns. Aliens had done worse things in the name of diplomacy. ‘What’s a little gas between friends?’ Even if it would stink for days.
