Summary: Not all Torchwood investigations are exciting. A double drabble.
‘How did you go?’ Jack asked as he saw Owen and Tosh enter the hub after spending most of the day investigating reports of ghosts in a video game arcade in Newport.
Owen chucked his jacket in a pile over the medical bay railing. ‘Great. We got stuck in an hour long traffic jam on the M4, arrived only to find the silly git who was meant to meet us there with the keys to the place didn’t turn up for another hour, wandered about aimlessly, set up every kind of equipment known to man and came up completely empty. No ghosts. No aliens. Nothing.’
‘We think some teenagers were using the place to experiment with holographic projection technology,’ Tosh added. ‘I found an SD card that must have been left behind by accident.’
Jack rolled his eyes. ‘Sounds like it was quite the adventure then.’
‘Oh, yes,’ Owen replied, his tone droll.
‘Well, look at the bright side,’ Jack said. ‘At least we know it’s case closed for Torchwood.’
‘Not exactly,’ Owen replied. ‘You still owe me forty quid for petrol, a pack of six jamball donuts, four takeaway coffees and an all expenses paid trip from eternal boredom.’
