Summary: No scratch or dent goes unnoticed by Ianto. A double drabble.
Ianto rubbed the cloth in slow generous circles over the black metal, watching it come up shining underneath his hands. He could almost see his reflection in the paintwork, the sign of a job well done. What a shame it wouldn't last. No doubt in the space of just a few days it would be covered once more in mud, alien slime or other muck.
He leaned in close, just to admire the blurred effigy of his own face and spotting something else instead. He brushed a finger over the metalwork, feeling the tiny dent in the side of the driver's door. That was new. He would bet any money Jack was to blame for that addition. Ianto recalled seeing a report about something that had exploded when Jack had attempted to defuse it.
He checked the rest of the door and found no other marks. Huh. Things that exploded tended to leave more than one mark.
'Love your work. Mister Jones,' Jack remarked, appearing as if mentally summoned. 'Looks good as new.'
'All except for one spot,' Ianto replied, pointing at the dent.
Jack grimaced. 'Ah, I knew I hit my head on something when that bomb went off.'
