torchwood100Summary: A terrible crash looks totally unsurvivable. A double drabble.
‘Jesus,’ Owen breathed as they stepped out of the SUV, taking in the sight before them. This was by far the worst alien crash landing he’d witnessed and he’d seen a few now. What hadn’t been buried twenty feet into the ground by the speed of the impact was either crushed in or on fire.
‘It’s sealed from the inside,’ Tosh reported, quickly scanning the exterior. ‘If anyone was still alive in there, they’d have popped the airlock by now. Assuming there’s any breathable atmosphere left.’
‘I doubt it,’ Owen replied.
Jack moved to the hull and pressed an ear to it, listening for sounds of life. Good luck, Owen thought. No one could’ve survived this. Jack took out his Webley and banged the handgrip against the hull three times, then pressed an ear back to it.
The rest of them stood there, watching and waiting. Three bangs from Jack then nothing. Three more and then three again.
‘Jack, it's pointless,’ Owen called out.
‘Shh!’ He banged again and pressed close to the dented metal. Then his body went rigid. ‘I heard something!’ he cried. He banged again and this time there was a three bang reply. ‘We’ve got survivors!’
