Summary: Owen is starting to see the upside of having a tourist office. A triple drabble.
Owen had always considered Torchwood's tourist office front to be a bit of a joke. Why on earth would a top secret organisation want to attract attention by luring people to its front door? Even if that front door was a bit obscure to find, and most of the time the office was closed on account of them being busy with real work.
Even just coming up here was a pain, he thought, grumbling the entire way up the stairs, cursing the fact that the lift was out of action thanks to an explosion of corrosive slime from Jack's retrieval a few days earlier. Why couldn't Ianto just bring what Owen wanted down for him?
He was about to puff out a few choice words as he came through the door but they died on his lips as he caught the two attractive blondes. One was engrossed in a map on the counter as Ianto carefully explained everything and marked it in highlighter pen. The other noticed Owen and smiled shyly. ‘Hej,’ she said, Swedish accent giving her away.
‘Hey,’ Owen replied stupidly, suddenly tongue-tied in their presence.
‘Thank you so much,’ the first blonde said, leaning over the counter to peck Ianto on the cheek. ‘We come back if we get lost,’ she promised. ‘Maybe come back and take you for dancing and drinks too?’
Blonde Number Two smiled at Owen, clearly thinking the same thing. ‘Bye,’ she said.
Owen gave a little wave. ‘Bye,’ he said, smiling stupidly once more as the bell over the door tinkled shut, before blinking back to reality. He turned to Ianto. ‘I think I see why you like it up here. I hope you gave them wrong directions. A double date with them would be alright.’
Ianto smirked. ‘In your dreams, Owen.’
