‘I’m afraid the UV is in a bit of a state,’ Jack said, bracing for the inevitable impact of Ianto’s disappointment. Or worse, Ianto’s ire.
The pained sigh didn’t come as a surprise. ‘All in the line of duty, I suppose,’ he replied.
‘Of course,’ Jack said. ‘I never go out of my way to make a mess, you know that.’
‘You’re just naturally skilled in that department,’ came the dry quip.
‘I could offer to help you wash it,’ Jack said, hoping that would earn him some brownie points.
A sceptical eyebrow went up. ‘You? Followed by ‘Actually, it’s fine. Leave it with me.’
Jack felt surprised yet again. ‘Really? You don’t want help?’
‘I have a system,’ Ianto replied. ‘And I'm almost certain that if you’re offering to wash the car then there is definitely an ulterior motive.’
Jack tried hard to suppress his grin. ‘Who me? What would I have to gain from offering to help wash the car?’
Ianto returned Jack’s wry grin. ‘Oh, I can't imagine what. Probably just some fantasy to do with getting wet and having to remove shirts. It’s easier to take it down the drive-through car wash.’
‘But not as fun.’
