Summary: Jack isn't the man he used to be. A double drabble.
Ianto shuffled under the bed sheet, turning over on his side to better look at Jack after a long night of making up for lost time. The fancy hotel was an aside to having Jack back after months of him being gone.
‘I have just one question for you,’ he said, resting an arm across Jack’s bare chest.
Jack raised an eyebrow at his tousled-hair bedfellow. ‘Only one?’ After everything that had happened to Jack in the year that never was, he expected Ianto to have a million questions.
‘John,’ he said, shuffling again to get more comfortable. ‘How on earth did you ever end up with such a selfish, unsympathetic, vile…crook.’
Jack took hold of the hand on his chest, picking it up and kissing it. ‘Because I was him. Or at least a version of him.’
‘You’re not a crook.’
‘Not anymore,’ Jack replied. ‘But I used to be. Time was when I'd do anything for a quick buck. We made a good team, albeit we tended to double cross one another. There’s no honour amongst thieves, Ianto.’ He gave the hand a squeeze. ‘I’m still a terrible person sometimes, but not that.’
‘No,’ Ianto agreed. ‘You’re not.’
