Summary: Ianto is forced to employ some of his lesser refined skills. A double drabble.
‘How long do I have to sit like this?’ Ianto asked, staring up at his two teammates and hoping for good news.
‘It’s asleep,’ Jack replied. ‘Do you really want it to wake back up and start squealing again?’
Ianto glanced down at the small infant alien napping in the crook of his elbow. It was certainly better than the crying version, which had tripped alarms inside the hub, warning of harmful pitch and decibel noise, which did nothing to quiet the creature. Jack had burst an eardrum being too close at the time and a small trickle of blood had dried along his jawline. Only earplugs and a significant amount of cuddling and rocking had made the cries abate. Now Ianto was stuck with it, too afraid to move. ‘I’m not good with babies,’ he confessed.
‘Well, you’ve pacified this one. Maybe you’re getting better at it.’
‘Oh, har har.’ It wasn’t exactly cute so his paternal instincts were hardly kicking in. ‘What if I need some sleep as well?’
Jack shrugged. ‘You can always cuddle up in the crook of my arm. One big, happy – silent – family.’
Ianto scowled. ‘I think I'd rather you found us a cot.’
