torchwood100Summary: Jack isn't spooked by much, but he knows when he's out of his depth. A triple drabble.
‘Don't come any closer or I’ll shoot!’
Jack's words sent Ianto rushing down the ladder and into Jack's bunker. He panicked at the thought of someone else being down there, let alone how they'd managed it and bypassed all their security and CCTV. At least Jack had his gun, Ianto thought gratefully as he'd grabbed his own in haste. Two guns were always better than one.
He burst into the cramped space. Jack was standing in the bathroom doorway, cornering their intruder. One look over Jack's shoulder at the danger and he eased his grip on his gun. ‘What's happened to not shooting spiders in the bathtub?’
‘This one isn't in the bathtub!’ Jack said, pointing with the barrel of his gun at the top corner, indicating his quarry. ‘Look at it!’
‘Why, because you can't bear to?’ Ianto teased. Admittedly it was a big one, and Ianto knew how much spiders freaked Jack out.
‘Exactly.’ Jack squeezed his eyes tightly shut, hand gripping the gun tighter still. ‘Tell me if it’s moving and if I need to readjust my aim.’
Ianto sighed. ‘Who don't you just shoot it and be done with it?’
Jack fired, which caught both of them by surprise. The shot echoed around the enclosed space. Ianto let out a small yelp before clearing his throat, trying to downplay the moment of fright. ‘I wasn't intending you to take me literally.’
‘Is it dead?’
Ianto inspected the spatter on the wall, along with the bullet lodged in there. ‘Yep, you got it alright. Funny how you're such a terrible shot when you're trying, but you can hit a spider at six feet with your eyes closed.’
Jack stood up a little taller. ‘Just goes to show what you can do when it counts.’
‘Mmm,’ Ianto agreed.
