Summary: Jack knew there was a reason he hated conferences. A double drabble.
‘This is a waste of time,’ Jack complained, gripping the plain white mug in front of his face. ‘And this coffee is terrible, by the way, which is not doing anything to help my mood.’ Jack didn't feel the need to apologise to Ianto. He was the only person in the room who could understand Jack’s feelings on the matter, and the short morning tea break was all that stood between them and all out conflict.
‘I know,’ Ianto agreed. ‘That’s why I’m drinking tea,’ he replied, emphasising which part of Jack’s grievances he was concurring on.
‘We’re going round in circles,’ Jack said, carrying on his complaints. ‘Everyone wants access to alien technology, but no one wants to be responsible for it.’
‘That’s because they're all politicians, scientists or military. They're not Torchwood people. They don't see what we see and how things can be misused, even with good intentions.’ Multilateral conferences like these were difficult at the best of times, but worse when people actually wanted Torchwood to share and share alike.
‘Where's The Doctor when we need him?’
‘Oh yes, because a planetary cataclysm is just what we need to convince everyone of our point of view!’
