Summary: Jack finds the strangest things amusing. A double drabble.
‘Drop your shoulder,’ Jack said. ‘The thing has a recoil on it that’s sending your shots too high.’
Ianto growled silently under his breath, feeling perspiration collecting at the edge of his safety goggles. He knew it was too high. He could see the bullet holes for himself. He didn’t need Jack to tell him.
‘And try shifting your hips a little. Don’t stand so straight on. You want to turn your body a bit.’
All good advice, Ianto thought, but it was also a bit cheap coming from Jack. He was hardly a great shot himself and he’d had a hell of a lot more practice than the rest of them. Jack’s problem wasn’t formal technique, it was the fact that he was usually hot-headed when he had a gun in his hand. Half the battle was staying calm whilst you took the shot. Fortunately Ianto had patience in spades. He calmly readjusted and fired off two more rounds, hitting the weevil target squarely in the chest.
‘Much better!’ Jack even clapped, which was slightly patronising. ‘This is fun, isn’t it?’
Ianto set his gun down and removed his goggles. ‘You have a strange definition of fun.’
‘Whatever works.’
