Summary: There's confusion in the hub when all the systems go off at once. A triple drabble.
'Why are all the emergency wanting alarms going off?' Owen yelled, poking his fingers in his ears to protect them from bursting his eardrums. It was customary for one alarm to sound when there was a problem but never before had all of them gone off at once.
'I don't know!' Tosh yelled back, fingers dancing across her keyboard to try and diagnose the problem.
'Are we being invaded? Jack said, rushing towards her, casting his gaze at his wrist strap to also get a sense for what was going wrong. 'Why didn't we get any forewarning?'
'I don't understand it,' Tosh replied, confused as to why the computers weren't registering any danger. 'It's just–' The alarms stopped, the lights all went out for a moment and then flicked back into life.
'Okay, that's weird,' Jack said, looking around as if still expecting to be plunged back into chaos. 'What just happened? Are we safe?'
'Sorry, sorry,' Ianto said, puffing as he came through a side door. 'Sorry,' he repeated, catching his breath. 'That was me. Dusting near the main switchboard downstairs and got a feather caught in one of the switches which was getting corroded. Then I got electrocuted trying to fix it. When I revived everything was going bananas. I must have shorted out some of the board when I touched it. Sorry. Hope I didn't give anyone a fright.'
Three faces blinked and looked at him like he was mad. God, he was getting like Jack, talking about dying and coming back as if it was no more than putting on a clean pair of trousers. 'I was being careful,' he emphasised.
'Didn't I tell you that all this cleaning would be the death of you one day?' Jack asked. 'I'm confiscating your feather duster.'
'Yes, sir.'
