Summary: Ianto has to remind Jack where he's come from, much to his embarrassment. A double drabble.
Ianto must have caught the frown on Jack’s face as he carried across the first, and very early coffee, of the morning. ‘Problem?’
Jack heaved a sigh, letting the coffee go unnoticed. ‘Just more headaches for us,’ he replied.
Ianto sipped from his own mug. ‘What kind of headaches?’
‘The Torchwood One kind,’ Jack said with a scowl. ‘I recognised the signature of this kind of technology right away. Dangerous, weaponised, capable of serious damage in the wrong hands. Something that must have slipped through the net when we swept the place and took everything.’ He sighed again. ‘Still cleaning up their mess after all this time. They were power hungry, maniacal and stupidly naïve. Their downfall was inevitable. Small wonder they didn't blow themselves up sooner.’
Ianto frowned at him. ‘I was there, remember?’
Jack blushed, averting his eyes, embarrassed that he’d completely forgotten that small fact. He always thought of Ianto as one of them, the Torchwood Three team.
‘And for the record, most of them were lovely people. Smart and dedicated, even if they were naïve. They’re the reason we didn't blow ourselves up. They got unlucky, like we have many times over.’
Jack blushed again. ‘Sorry.’
