Summary: Just when Ianto needs Jack most, Jack has troubles of his own to deal with. A double drabble.
‘Oi, where are you off?’ Ianto called out, noticing how Jack was longer at his side but wandering off down the dark hallways of the Flat Holm Island facility. Ianto didn't want to be left alone here in this strange place. It was like a house of horrors, seeing what the rift was truly capable of. He’d never imagined that there could be worse things than the rift dropping stuff on them from other times and places. Knowing it could also take people was so much worse, and realising that many probably never made it back home.
‘Jack!’ He yelled at the retreating form but it was as if Jack didn't even hear him.
There was a sudden hand on Ianto's arm and there, in Jack's place, was the nurse Helen who had greeted them at the door and taken their rift victim away to be cared for. ‘Leave him be, love,’ she said with a kind tone. ‘He likes to be alone for a bit after bringing them here,’ she explained. ‘It’s hard on him, not being able to do more, but we do what we can.’
Ianto stared down the empty hallway, wishing he hadn’t been left alone.
