Summary: Ianto has his reasons for not wanting to introduce Jack. A double drabble.
‘You are not meeting my family,’ Ianto said, firmly and with conviction as he picked up the crate and began walking it down the row of archive shelves, hoping to rid himself of Jack through the appearance of hard work and mindless boredom.
Heavy booted steps could be heard jogging behind him, determined to keep up with his focused strides into the darkness. ‘Why not?’ Jack called out. ‘I’d be on my best behaviour, I promise. No, check that. Even my worst behaviour isn’t that bad.’ There was a pause. ‘Is it?’
Ianto sighed, setting the crate down on the floor. Now wasn’t the time to get into what constituted Jack’s worst behaviour. There was a whole checklist for that. ‘It’s not you I’m worried about. It’s them. I’m trying to come up with reasons for you not to get sick of me daily. Meet them and you’ll run a bloody mile. Then where will I be? Stuck working at a job with my ex-boyfriend boss.’
Jack crossed his arms and considered Ianto’s strange response. ‘You haven’t told them about us yet, have you?’
Ianto made a vexed sound and picked up the crate again, wandering away. ‘Not the point.’
