torchwood100Summary: Even excellent purveyors of coffee sometimes have off days. A double drabble.
One thing everyone at Torchwood had come to take for granted was Ianto's coffee. It was far and above the best coffee in South Wales, putting to shame all the local cafe's. It didn't pay to be in Ianto’s bad books lest he decide that serving decaf or instant coffee was the great leveller.
What Jack didn't like to admit was that, no matter how good the coffee usually was, even Ianto was prone to the odd bad day. When he was off his game, the coffee tended to suffer as a result. Sometimes it was a little too watery, but most of the time it just tasted bitter, like the beans had been in the machine too long, getting burned along the way. It took every ounce of Jack's con man acting skills not to gag at the taste.
He knew that Ianto meant well, but it would break his heart if any of them admitted that the coffee was less than excellent. Jack supposed that if slightly unpalatable coffee was the worst consequence of having a bad day, he really shouldn't complain. That and he couldn't be sure that Ianto wouldn't kill him if he did say something.
