‘Two more pints of bitter!’ Owen called out to the barman, swilling down the remnants of his last pint before it could be taken away and replaced with fresh glasses.
‘I shouldn’t have another,’ Ianto said, still sounding perfectly sober to Owen's ears.
‘Why not?’ came the challenge.
‘It’s a weeknight,’ he replied.
‘So? Owen asked, pulling one of the newly filled glasses towards him. ‘Not like work keeps regular hours or sticks to Monday to Friday, is it?’
‘Exactly.’ As if on cue, Ianto’s phone pinged. ‘Ah. See?’
Owen groaned. Bloody Jack. Bloody Torchwood. ‘Right, let’s drink these first.’
