drabble_zone Summary: Ianto doesn't like to take any chances when he's on the road. A quadruple drabble.
'How many times do I have to tell you not to pack anything?' Jack asked, wondering if his lover simply did things for the sole purpose of being annoying – possibly retribution for all the times that Jack annoyed him in return.
'It's just a few things,' Ianto insisted, returning to the wardrobe and fishing out a pink shirt and blue tie combination, before scurrying into the ensuite.
'The TARDIS has everything you could possibly need,' Jack reiterated. Hadn't they established that the last time they'd gone travelling?
'It doesn't have my toothbrush,' he replied, brandishing it like a weapon as he came back and dropped it into a smaller bag within the huge suitcase.
'You'll get a nice new one.' Honestly, Ianto was infuriating sometimes!
'But it'll be all stiff and new, not slightly soft.'
Jack sighed. 'If you want a slightly used toothbrush I'm sure the TARDIS could read your mind and sort one out. The whole point is to travel light.'
'Yes, but there's things it can't provide,' he argued.
'Such as?' Jack was looking forward to impressing Ianto with just how capable the TARDIS was, as if he hadn't already had the full experience.
'What about this?' Ianto said, waggling his diary. 'It can't reproduce that, can it? A nice new diary perhaps, but nothing you might steal in the night when I'm asleep so that you can gorge yourself on the nonsense musings of a twenty-first century earthling. Don't look at me like that. I know that's what you do.'
'Besides, when will you have time to write in it?' Jack knew that even a quiet day with the Doctor usually turned into an epic adventure of one kind or another. That was the perk, never knowing what was around the next corner and just going along for the ride.
'I'll find time,' he promised. 'In this job you have to make time between the world possibly ending and paperwork. Plus there's a nice little room on the TARDIS where I can hide out and time doesn't pass so quickly, so I can write, make myself a nice coffee, relax and have a break from all the adventure. I just say I'm popping off to the loo and you two never even know.'
'Hey!' Jack said, outraged. 'How come I've never heard about this room?'
Ianto smirked. 'Because you travel light. I travel full deluxe upgrade.'
