Summary: Jack knows how to appreciate a little time off. A double drabble.
Jack let out a contented sigh as the television in front of him burbled away quietly, transitioning from a morning breakfast program to some cheesy travel show. Not that he was watching it. It was just white noise in the otherwise peaceful apartment, indulging in the weekend section of the newspaper, which Ianto described as largely pointless. He never got time to read the newspaper anymore, and Ianto was only interested in the main news section, making sure that they hadn’t missed anything important, and that any cover stories they’d put in place were holding up to the scrutiny of a lazy print media.
Ianto had finished the main section of the paper half an hour ago over marmite toast and coffee and was now dozing on the sofa next to Jack. A rare Sunday morning off work, Jack thought, knowing how infrequent they were, let alone taking the opportunity to just relax rather than catch up on mountains of laundry and grocery shopping.
Perhaps mornings like these were commonplace and boring to ordinary Cardiff residents but for Jack, they were a precious gift, savoured to the fullest extent, never knowing when they might next get the chance for another.
